snom Announces Support of TR-069 Standard
By Marisa Torrieri, TMCnet Editor
Calling itself the “first business SIP phone manufacturer” to do so, snom today announced its support of the TR-069 standard developed by the International Broadband Forum (News - Alert).
TR-069 allows IP endpoints to contact auto-configuration servers to automatically obtain the latest updates and security settings. Thanks to the TR-069 security standard, businesses and public sector organizations using snom phones can customize any number of extensions at no cost. Additionally, they can optimize the configuration and standardization of all devices simultaneously.
While the manual configuration process can sometimes be costly and time consuming, with snom IP phones, users just connect their phones for configuration to take place automatically, the company said.
Additionally, snom’s support of the TR-069 standard alleviates some of the complexity of managing a large VoIP system with multiple components and potential configurations of individual devices.
“As a trusted manufacturer of secure IP phones we are pleased to simplify the management of very large phone systems, and use the TR-069 standard to enable automatic configuration,” said Oliver Wittig, vice president of sales for EMEA for snom technology AG (News - Alert). “For many manufacturers of IP phones TR-069 is not easy to achieve. That we can now offer our customers this improvement once again reinforces snom’s position as a pioneer in telephony.”
