Toshiba Delivers Total IP Telephony System

In IP telephony news, the Digital Solutions Division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. announced today that it will now deliver a total IP telephony solution comprised of the Toshiba Strata CIX pure IP telephony system plus networking, security, and wireless products and services to offer customers an all-in-one IP telephony service. The company has arranged to deliver all new products and services via the company�s nationwide network of authorized dealers, providing a complete start-to-finish IP communications solution for SMB enterprises and larger corporate users with multiple sites.

According to the new agreement, all wired and wireless network assessment, installation, and related services will be provided by Columbia, MD-based PEAK Technologies Inc., an RR Donnelley company. Wireless and wired networking products and services will be provided by Irvine, CA-based SMC Networks Inc., a provider of networking solutions for the SMB market. Network security technologies and services will be provided by SonicWALL, Inc., a provider of integrated security, productivity and mobility solutions.

The company says the Strata CIX supports up to 192 ports, offers new FeatureFlex capabilities, can be TDM-enabled, and provides a smoother migration path from Toshiba Strata CTX and Strata DK digital business communication systems. The features include:

• Toshiba�s FeatureFlex allows users to customize existing features and create their own new features using the TCL scripting language. It lets them create their own Killer Applications from FeatureFlex, the Killer Enabler.

• More than 250 features are supported, plus with FeatureFlex, users can create their own features or purchase feature packages, including one-number access, call monitor and retrieve, and voice mail return.

• Delivers every Feature to Every User - regardless of the type of device they are using, whether they are fixed or mobile. It supports IP wireless and IP desk telephones, analog and digital telephones, IP softphones on notebook and tablet PCs, and standards-based SIP telephones. Remote users have all the same features available as locally connected users.

• eManager gives IT managers a Web-based tool to remotely manage the system, and My Phone Manager� lets individual users program their own phones.

• Strata CIX can be TDM-enabled, giving users a choice of running a pure IP system or a mix of IP and digital TDM. Toshiba�s Strata CIX is much more than just an IP system.

• Strata CTX and Strata DK system users can upgrade to Strata CIX peer-to-peer IP communication, while they protect their original investment.

PEAK Technologies will provide wireless network assessment, site surveys, installation and services to customers of Toshiba Strata CIX pure IP business communications systems. SMC Networks will deliver a product portfolio of wireless and wired network infrastructure, including 802.11 Wireless Access Point and Bridge, several Fast Ethernet switches, a high performance non-blocking PoE switch and a single port PoE Injector. The SMC solution allows for full management, security, and increased efficiency of any network used with the Toshiba Strata CIX IP telephony business communications system.

SonicWALL is the security provider for Toshiba�s Strata CIX pure IP business communications systems, providing its PRO 2040 and TZ 170 VPN firewalls and security services such as Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Intrusion Prevention.
