After today, the Vancouver-based company will be known as the
developer of the brand spanking new Glopex Broadband Internet
phone. The device, announced today, is a soft phone that will
allow road warriors to make and receive phone calls using the
Internet at any wireless hot spot location including airports,
aboard planes, and coffee shops.
Nicer Canada describes the new phone as a networking device with
a phone-like user interface featuring a microphone, numeric
keypad and displays. The Glopex soft phone also offers more
PDA-like features such as direct dialing with address books and
the capacity to store contact lists.
Additionally, the company says its device employs firewall
bypass capability while not breaching security, in order to
enable users to make and receive calls with better security on
any network without having to reconfigure any firewall setting.
Glopexs phone service transforms all out-of-town and
out-of-country calls into local calls by using one of the
companys domestic or international virtual numbers.
The
preview release, scheduled for next week in Hanover, Germany at
an industry event, featuring Nicer's VoIP sofphone, follows the
companys beta testing and field trials with select corporate
customers.
