Lightyear Chooses IPeria's ActivEdge for Its VoIP Service

BY JOHANNE TORRES

IPeria Inc. (news - alert), a provider of communications software for VoIP (define - news - alert), today announced that Lightyear Network Solutions (news - alert), a local exchange carrier, chose the company’s ActivEdge voicemail and unified messaging solution for use in its XSTREAM Services. Lightyear's XSTREAM will be rolled out in 171 markets thoughout the United States, providing messaging and telephone calling features.

"We selected IPeria's ActivEdge for our nationwide rollout because of its advanced features, open and standards-based architecture, and its integration and interoperability with our other voice over IP vendors like Sylantro Systems, said Bruce Widener, senior vice president of corporate development for Lightyear Network Solutions. "By partnering with IPeria and companies like Sylantro, we are able to quickly introduce unique, easy to use, and fully integrated VoIP telephone calling and messaging services for our residential and business subscribers."

IPeria's ActivEdge carrier-class software offers network service providers a scalable and high performance solution for enhanced services such as telephone and internet based voicemail, automated telephone operator (auto-attendant) fax, and unified messaging with advanced notification capabilities.

ActivEdge’s voicemail feature allows subscribers to access voicemail messages through any telephone, e-mail client, or over the Internet via a Web portal. IPeria's voicemail provides advanced notification capabilities to allow subscribers to be notified of a new message on their mobile telephone, by sending an e-mail with the message attached, by providing stutter dial tone, or by lighting the message waiting light on the telephone device.

With IPeria's ActivEdge Software in place, service providers can add additional services such as unified messaging, auto attendant, fax, and audio conferencing as their subscribers require new and integrated messaging and communications services.

"IPeria is proud to be part of Lightyear's nationwide rollout of XSTREAM services for residential and business users," said Jonathon Ross, IPeria's President. "Lightyear's VoIP network architecture will allow them to offer unique and innovative services to residential and business subscribers nationwide."
