Lucent Technologies and LightRiver Technologies, a Lucent sales business partner, announced today that Industry Telephone chose technology from Lucent's Accelerate Next-Generation Communications Solutions to offer local and long distance voice services over Internet Protocol (IP) and traditional networks.
Industry, TX-based Industry Telephone and its subsidiary Industry I-NET, offer customers a variety of telecom services including telephone, ISDN, broadband Internet access, Web hosting, wireless and now VoIP.

This platform, supported by Lucent's and LightRiver's extensive expertise, enables us to continue to offer traditional voice services and introduce new VoIP services, while making use of our existing network," said Delbert Wilson, general manager of Industry Telephone. "ITC is excited about working with Lucent and LightRiver to deploy this switch to offer new innovative services to our customers."
The Texas independent carrier serves more than 2,000 subscribers in the southeast region of the state and deploys the Lucent Compact Switch, formerly the Telica Compact Softswitch, to replace traditional Class 5 switches. As a Lucent sales business partner, LightRiver will be providing Industry Telephone with the Lucent Compact Switch as well as provide and coordinate a full set of professional services, including engineering, installation, testing, training and technical support.

Lucent also announced a new DS1 blade for the Lucent Compact Switch (and the Lucent Network Gateway) that can simultaneously support multiple combinations of signaling protocols, SS7, GR 303 and PRI on a single card.

"By partnering with companies such as LightRiver, we can extend our reach in the market and deliver the most advanced telecommunications solutions to a wide variety of service providers."
The switch can support from anywhere from 1,000 to more than 100,000 subscribers on a single integrated platform. Service providers can deploy the switch for end-office (Class 5) and tandem (Class 4) applications to replace an existing switch or as an addition to the network. In addition to providing VoIP, Internet off-load and gateway mobile switching center features, the compact switch also offers CALEA and E9-1-1 capabilities.
