Voice over IP ( VoIP ) (define - news - alert - tutorial) network provider PointOne Communications Inc., just announced StarPoint IP Business, a hosted IP solution for enterprises wanting to replace, or cut back further investment in PBX private telephone switches.
With this release, PointOne—led by president and chief executive officer J. Michael Holloway, looks to offer businesses, not only telecom equipment cost savings, but also a flexible opportunity for companies who have previously invested in PBX switches to expand their capacity.
StarPoint IP Business allows customers to replace an existing PBX system or what the company calls “cap and grow” by keeping an existing PBX system in place and integrating with PointOne’s solution to accommodate additional line demand.
“Hosted IP services provide obvious and dramatic advantages over PBX equipment,” said Sam Shiffman, executive vice president of PointOne. “More importantly, StarPoint IP Business allows enterprises to take advantage of next generation telephony applications.”
StarPoint IP Business will provide enhanced phone features including: abbreviated dialing; call hunt; reservationless, multi-way conferencing; and auto attendant, an automated voice response system providing directory listing and automatic call forwarding based on user extension.
Texan PointOne processes more than one half billion calls per month on its IP network. The company’s network utilizes a “self-healing” high capacity MPLS backbone to ensure reliability, prevent service disruption, and ensure diverse routing and carrier level redundancy.
