TIM Says, "You've Got Java"

BY MICHELLE PASQUERELLO

Imagine having instant access to Starbuck’s menu before approaching the counter and deciding which coffee concoction you’re in the mood for. While waiting for your double-shot decaf mocha with extra whip, you tap into the latest music streams and have a go at a game of electronic darts. Perhaps you’re planning your next shopping excursion and want to know what’s on sale. With the push of a button, you’ll have instant access to the latest deals, coupons, and specials. It’s a wireless-lover’s customizable dream come true and this technology is readily available through TanCher’s latest platform, TIM, a new low-power OS complete with pre-equipped applications.

TIM (TanCher’s Internet and Mobile platform) enables powerful and affordable wireless designs that are fully scaleable and licensable to target services with branded device optimization. This “purpose-built” approach caters to industrial, commercial, educational, warehouse and medical solutions. In fact, TIM scales three ways across:

  • Low-cost handheld hardware designs

  • A robust—yet lean mobile operating system with low power consumption

  • An application suite of ready and target-made applications

TanCher, reformed from Cybiko, was founded in 2002 and has manufactured over 500,000 wireless communication devices targeted towards the teen market. TanCher has since broadened their wireless IP (news - alert - tutorial) services, bringing software technology directly to the hands of all wireless holders.

From sketch, to mass production, each TIM application is designed so that customers can build their very own portable “concierge.”

TanCher’s team of qualified engineers is able to perform a range of services, bringing a personalized TIM-based product from concept to reality. TanCher focuses on:

  • Industrial design and mechanical engineering

  • Schematics and PCB layout

  • SW architecture, embedded software, OS, applications development (C/C++, Java, etc)

  • Wireless communications engineering including Bluetooth, WiFi, (news - alert - tutorial) GSM/GPRS, CDMA, TETRA

  • Procurement management, manufacturing set-up, tight liaison engineering and program management

With an expertise in embedded software, TanCher’s concentrated experience in all aspects of design, from feasibility to electrical engineering, provides for end-users a specialized product that spans across many vertical markets. TIM is available for many networks. According to Mark Menarik, CEO of TanCher, this is a “tried and true” platform and has had success in its results.
