For all those tired of waiting in long lines at their favorite event, CeBIT (News - Alert) Australia one of world's largest ICT exhibitions, introduced this year new mobile ticketing technology for general admission—making the visit to the exhibit for pre-registered patrons much more enjoyable, as they could completely avoid standing in line  to get inside.

Mobile ticketing reduces the check-in time, which is more than a minute per ticket when operated manually, to less than 10 seconds with an automated self-service system. Also, the technology uses 10 bCODE Readers, which eliminate the necessity of standing in check-in lines for pre-registered patrons. As a result, the event witnessed more patrons rushing in than the previous years.

CeBIT Australia offered this ticketing option to all its pre-registered patrons. If a patron opted for the bCODE mobile ticketing option, he was sent a mobile ticket prior to the event and when the patron came to the event, all he had to do was scan his mobile 10 bCODE Reader ticket which recognized the ticket and allowed entry in matter of seconds. In addition, patrons also received a personalized conference tag for the event.

To achieve this, CeBIT Australia selected Los Angeles based bCODE as their mobile ticketing technology provider. By using a simple plain-text SMS message, bCODE technology allows any transaction token, such as coupons or tickets, to be sent wirelessly to mobiles and PDAs. This technology from bCODE is compatible with more than 99 percent of the 3 billion existing mobile phones and PDAs in the market today. Then, in less than a half a second bCODE's Reader scans the SMS sent to the mobile phone and reads it like a barcode.

CeBIT Australia 2007 was the perfect platform to test the efficiency of bCODE technology. CeBIT noted they had used another barcode-based mobile ticketing technology prior to this year's event, but selected bCODE because of its reliability, ease of use and wide device coverage. In terms of number of successful scans of mobile tickets, CeBIT Australia 2007 was the largest mobile-ticketed event in the world to date. More than 10,000 pre-registered patrons carrying more than 200 different varieties of handsets were able to self-scan their tickets and gain a hassle free entry to the show. The positive response received from these patrons may see an increase in the number of people who opt for this service for the next event.

bCODE too is encouraged by the response it received and expects to undertake many similar projects across EU, Asia and Australia in the coming years. The company believes that apart from providing a hassle free experience for the patrons, its mobile ticketing and coupon technology will help in reducing costs across a number of market segments.
