Motorola (News - Alert) recently released new line of personal digital assistant (PDA) devices. The models include the MING A1600, MING A1800 and MOTO A810. These devices come with a range of advanced feature, including stand-alone Global Positioning System (GPS), multimedia support, and productivity software.

The launch took place in China.

MING 1600 PDA from Motorola“As the next generation of our MING range, the A1600 and A1800 combine Motorola's long heritage in the PDA market with stylish design and innovative technology, delivering a personal productivity experience that has been tailored to the needs of the busy Chinese executive,” said Ray Yam, vice president and general manager at Motorola Mobile Devices in China. “The A810, meanwhile, adds new energy and style to Motorola's PDA series — it is ideal for those young professionals who are looking to work hard and play hard, thanks to the multi-functional and fully-featured set of tools we have included.”

The company has made significant strides in the PDA market since it introduced its first such phone, the pen-based Motorola A6188. MING devices are the latest innovation from  Motorola.

The MING devices feature have a transparent flip cover and incorporate Motorola’s signature sleek designs, with power-packed features in a small frame. Additionally, the devices contain handwriting recognition technology, and a host of productivity software tools. The A1600 also has a camera, with a resolution of 3.2 megapixels. The camera has additional functions like auto-focus and panorama. The A1800 supports CDMA/GSM dual-mode dual standby, integrated incoming call/SMS firewall and a 3.0 megapixel auto-focus camera.

“Designed specifically to reflect the Chinese preference for writing characters by hand, our pen-based PDA series has met with incredible success in China,” added Yam. “As one of the first multi-national companies to invest in China, Motorola has always been committed to providing Chinese consumers with pioneering technologies and innovative products.”

These new devices follow on the heels of the successful MING A1200 devices that were launched in 2006. MING is still one of the best selling handset brands in China with more than three million units sold there.
