Last month, Psion Teklogix (News - Alert) announced its return to the market it pioneered two decades ago, launching its newest product, the iKon PDA.

"We're extremely proud to be launching iKon," said CEO Jacky Lecuivre. "iKon is the most advanced handheld computer our company has ever brought to market. It is a very synergistic addition to our portfolio as it enables us to truly address the needs of mobile workers, helping them do their jobs with the best possible mobile computing support."

A powerful, compact design with robust functionality, iKon delivers increased efficiency and productivity by enabling advanced mobile applications across the enterprise. iKon packs functionality into a compact form factor, and is a category-leading data capture device ideal for mobile workers in dynamic applications, offering customers an industry standard, yet leading edge platform for their apps.

The ability of iKon to integrate data and voice communication options onto a single device eliminates the previous need for multiple devices. This, in turn, reduces capital expenditures and support costs. What this amounts to is anytime, anywhere, wireless data and voice communications, GPS positioning, with simultaneous cellular, WiFi and Bluetooth options. These features allow for real-time information management, improved efficiencies and increased asset visibility across a customer's operations.

iKon will be available to customers next month.
