Opera Software (News - Alert) has released the new version of Opera Mobile 8.65 for Windows Mobile, available from www.opera.com/mobile with a free 30-day trial.

Following the release of Opera Mobile for the Windows Mobile platform, Opera is pitching this release to Smartphone and Pocket PC users as the Web browser of choice. The release incorporates user feedback and beta testing results with "Opera's winning small-screen performance," company officials say.

Such manufacturers as Motorola (News - Alert), Samsung, HTC, Asus, Sharp and Toshiba have licensed and installed Opera Mobile on Windows Mobile devices, while consumers have also independently acquired the Web browser with over three million downloads from the company site.

"The Windows Mobile platform has proved to be a powerful stage for Opera Mobile." says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software, who said Opera Mobile 8.65 will "amplify the level of fun" for users."

Opera Mobile 8.65 for Windows Mobile provides Flash support, allows users to send links by e-mail, SMS or MMS, and adds several menu and user interface enhancements such as an integrated search field in the address bar.

In late August Opera, which bills itself as "the only company that puts the Web on any device," released the new beta of Opera Mini 4, what it calls "the world's most popular mobile Web browser."

The new beta version of Opera Mini 4 has optimizations for BlackBerry (News - Alert) devices, including a new user interface and menus for a more comfortable Opera Mini look and feel. For BlackBerry users worldwide, or anyone wanting a better, faster and free mobile Web browser, the new Opera Mini 4.0 beta is available from http://www.operamini.com/beta/ .

For all users, the new beta adds what Opera officials say are "often-requested features" designed to improve usability and enjoyment. Opera Mini's new "Landscape mode" gives a wider view of the page, and a new multi-search Start Page is designed to make searching even easier while on the go.

There's also the ability to add a search engine to the Start Page, a feature pioneered in Opera's desktop browser, is now available in the latest beta of Opera Mini.

"We want to make Opera Mini available to even more users, so we've improved our support for BlackBerry," said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera. "Now the world's most popular mobile Web browser and most popular handhelds can work together."
