ThinkFree Debuts Server Integrator Early Bird Program, Includes CRM

TMCnet Contributing Editor

ThinkFree, a vendor of office productivity products, reportedly has launched its ThinkFree Server Integrator Early Bird Program, described by company officials as a set of API products for developers to integrate document editing and viewing capabilities into existing IT infrastructure, Webmail, blog, storage, groupware, ERP, and CRM platforms.

“Participation in the ThinkFree Server Integrator Early Bird Program will provide qualified companies, enterprises, government and educational institutions with a significant discount,” said Su Jin Kim, chief executive officer of ThinkFree.

As businesses “increasingly turn to alternative products for office productivity software,” Su says, “our Server Integrator offers a SDK that enables deployment within existing computing environments.”

Last month, TMCnet reported that ThinkFree announced the latest addition to its ThinkFree Mobile offering, ThinkFree Netbook Edition. The product delivers word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications “optimized for the small screen dimensions and limited hardware resources of Intel (News - Alert) Atom chipset-based netbooks,” company officials say.

Quite frankly, this reporter’s primary laptop is just such an Intel Atom – the Acer (News - Alert) Aspire One. And I agree with the comments posted on AspireOneUser – to the effect that ThinkFree “is perfectly suited to the Aspire One. It is lightning quick on startup, has all of the things I use regularly for word processing and spreadsheets and they’ve launched an online service with a sync tool that will keep everything updated between your machine and the office suite on the Web site.”

As the commenter said, I’m not a huge fan of OpenOffice. In my opinion, and his, “it’s bloated and breaking its own back to load more ‘look we can do anything MS Office does’ worthless features.”

ThinkFree Netbook Edition is available now Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and Mac OS X. A free trial copy can be downloaded at http://product.thinkfree.com/mobile/.
ThinkFree’s server integrator features customizable integration for unique environments –  http, ftp – and supports third-party security certificates and integration with centralized document storage through simple API customization.

The integrator is a componentized version of ThinkFree Office Write, Calc and Show Applet-based applications offered separately. It’s designed to let customers use the Java-based ThinkFree Office (MS Office 2007 compatible) within the client’s existing system.

Existing enterprise products with integrated office features “don’t require a separate office application for viewing or editing of documents,” according to the ThinkFreeians: “Secure data access and document protection is provided by limiting data access to centralized storage so confidential documents can be quickly and simultaneously viewed or edited.”

The company is based in Santa Clara, California. It’s majority owned by Haansoft Inc., a publicly held company on the Korean KOSDAQ stock market.
