Lixto Software Uses Cloud Computing for SaaS Delivery, Scalability

TMCnet Contributing Editor

Lixto Software, a so-called “Web intelligence” company, reportedly has released of Version 5 of its Web Data Extraction Software Suite, which includes its Visual Developer and Transformation Server.

To improve the scalability and processing power of the company’s SaaS (News - Alert) and on-premise Web intelligence solution, the new version of the Lixto Online Market Intelligence solution uses the power of Internet Cloud Computing.

New server components, such as the Lixto Reporting Server, empower the manageability of the whole software environment. The Lixto Reporting Server acts as central management resource that gathers service execution reports of a whole cluster of extraction serves. Offering superior service quality for Lixto customers, this facilitates improved service management.

Lixto has introduced new software architecture into the latest Version 5 solution for its server-side products to achieve virtual infinite scaling of its solution. These server-side products support a grid-based scaling approach. In relation to the number of processing units available in a cluster of servers, this allows for linear scaling. The software supports the use of Cloud Computing resources such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. Offering more efficient resource utilization and reduced management overhead, the new server architecture also introduces intelligent load-distribution amongst the available processing units.

Lixto Web Data Extraction Suite Version 5 is available immediately.

According to Robert Bamgartner, vice president and research and development at Lixto, “The new server architecture on Version 5 is a major technical breakthrough that will enable our customers to gather more Web data in a shorter amount of time, whilst reducing the overall resource consumption in a typical application. Our vertical solutions will benefit from the new technology in terms of scalability and performance in a transparent way and due to its reverse compatibility with previous versions of the product, upgrading to the latest version is straightforward.”
