Top500 List: Voltaire Technology Powers Two of the World's Top Five Supercomputers

Voltaire, a provider of grid backbone solutions for data centers, recently announced that its InfiniBand-based solutions are now being used in two of the world’s top five supercomputers, and is cited in the 30th Edition of the Top500 list of powerful computers. The list includes 125 supercomputers.
“The growth rate of InfiniBand usage on the Top500 list is indicative of the rapid adoption of InfiniBand in HPC and across the enterprise,” said Patrick Guay, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Voltaire, in a statement.
Guay continued: “Voltaire’s switches and software are increasingly used to accelerate performance of applications in a wide array of industries including, financial services, manufacturing, life sciences and more, as well as to deliver unified fabrics in the data center. We are extremely pleased to maintain our position as the InfiniBand leader on the Top500 with more than forty entries.”
The Top500 list is published two times a year and ranks the most powerful supercomputers worldwide according to their performance on the LINPACK benchmark.
Voltaire’s products leverage InfiniBand technology and include director-class switches, multi-service switches, fixed-port configuration switches, Ethernet  and Fiber Channel routers and standards-based driver and management software. The company’s solutions serve a wide range of end users including governmental, research and educational organizations, as well as enterprises in the manufacturing, oil and gas, entertainment, life sciences and financial services industries.
