Convergys to Provide Fresh Blend of HR for Starbucks

Well known, retailer, roaster and maker of specialty brand coffee, Starbucks, has signed a multi-year contract with Convergys (News - Alert) Corporation for their human resources business process services.

"The goal of the partnership is to help Starbucks build a single global platform for HR services to support Starbucks' rapid global expansion," a news release states.

The contract includes serving the coffee company's 'partners' (employees) in the U.S. and Canada with a fine blend of HR administration and payroll services as well as benefits services for 'partners' in Canada.

Starsbucks has over 13,500 stores in 40 countries and employs more than 145,000 'partners'.

Convergys has said they expect the contract will help to improve revenue and earnings by 2009.

"Our partners (employees) are the heart of our business and the key to our continued success. We needed to find a HR service provider that both shared our vision and values and had a commitment to customer service that was as strong as our own," commented Dave Pace, executive vice president of Partner Resources at Starbucks in a statement to the press.

"In Convergys we found both of those qualities, as well as a provider who can provide flexible, reliable, and scalable services to help us as we continue to grow," also commented Pace."
Last month Convergys announced a new solution, Infinys Series 3, which combines customer care, rating, charging and billing and moves operators from a distributed BSS environment to one that is customer-centric and centralized.

The new solution is a bid to meet rapidly changing consumer needs and improve customer care for operators.

The new solution offers support for a number of bundling possibilities including various content, data and voice packages and pricing as well as quad play transactions, so operators can better support their customers.
