MMTAT Helps Tornado Ravaged Town of Greensburg, Kansas

When more than 90 percent of the town of Greensburg, Kansas was destroyed by the first recorded "5" rated tornado, James Ramsey, CEO of MMTAT was quick to provide a multi-purpose, emergency response vehicle and a team of experienced IT, logistics and engineering technical staff.

MMTAT reportedly contacted several federal, state and local agencies who were coordinating response and recovery efforts for Greensburg. The company’s offer of assistance was accepted by the Department of Kansas Emergency Management and Sheriff Vernon Chinn, Pratt County's Sheriff and designated Greensburg Law Enforcement Branch Director.

“MMTAT’s Mobile Command Center was exactly what we needed to efficiently coordinate our law enforcement mission without any disruptions in protecting this defenseless city,” said Sheriff Chinn in a statement to the press.

“This valuable resource allowed all heads of Law Enforcement drawn from across the state to securely meet and plan all facets of their daily Incident Action Plans,” added Chinn.

Using the spacious and technologically outfitted Mobile Command Center of MMTAT, more than twenty-five different law enforcement agencies and counties are effectively coordinating their security and law enforcement operations and Incident Action Planning responsibilities.

This 53' technologically robust mobile center was dispatched by MMTAT to Greensburg, Kansas from a forward readiness depot in Austin, Texas. The center was secured on location, within the Greensburg, Kansas Incident Base Camp, was quickly reconfigured into a law enforcement command center and made ready for immediate use.

A state-of-the-art Mobile Power and Communication Unit (MPCU) from Downey, California was also dispatched by MMTAT that provided additional law enforcement services for the Greensburg Memorial Day Rodeo. MPCU helps bring the residents and neighboring communities of Greensburg together to contribute to the community-wide healing and recovery process.

MPCU can quickly restore critical power, provide scene lighting, wireless WAN or security camera viewpoint from a telescoping mast, along with VoIP phone service and secure high-speed internet access for any emergency.

"Any town, county or state in ‘Tornado Alley’ should be well prepared with access to emergency command and control resources,” said Ramsey.

“Although we're only a small part of an enormous recovery effort, MMTAT is proud to be of service to the unified law enforcement command's needs and expects to be onsite through late June 2007,” he concluded.
