Gear6 Accelerates Data Intensive Applications

Gear6 has launched the CACHEfx line of scalable caching appliances. These terabyte-scale caching products dramatically accelerate response times and throughput for a wide variety of demanding, cross-industry enterprise applications.

 

Existing network attached storage (NAS) is complemented by the CACHEfx appliances that centralize a massive pool of coherent memory serving data 10-to-50 times faster than mechanical disks, and eliminates I/O bottlenecks and “hotspots.”

 

Gear6 centralized storage caching solutions deploy transparently in the data center. The solutions also preserve current infrastructure, applications, file systems, and storage management software. Organizations such as the D. E. Shaw group, a global investment and technology development firm, are deploying centralized storage caching solutions from Gear6 to achieve significant performance gains, protect existing investments, avoid over-provisioning, and guarantee high quality-of-service.

extends to nearly all I/O intensive applications and those requiring immediate data access such as databases and transaction processing.

 

According to Tony Asaro, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group, IT groups often over engineer their environments in order to meet application performance requirements, which may result in greater cost and complexity.
