Telanetix Offers Interoperability between Telepresence Solution and Video Conferencing Systems

TMCnet Assistant Editor

Telepresence, the ability to feel as though one is present in a separate location than they are physically at, is growing in demand especially in the business space where communications and collaborations with a geographically dispersed workforce is providing business improvements. As a result, more and more players are stepping up to offer services and solutions to best meet user needs.

Digital Telepresence technology offered by Telanetix (News - Alert) Inc. integrates audio, video and data from multiple locations into a single environment and allows for full-sized, face-to-face images in real-time and using high-resolution so that users feel as though they're really right there in the same room as the other users.

In their latest announcement, Telanetix introduced a new platform in support of their telepresence system that will provide the option to participate in meetings using the standard H.263 and H.264 SIP enabled video conferencing systems.

Using the new platform will make it easier for users to connect with others regardless of the video conferencing solution or system being used and through a mix of hardware and software components, make seamless connectivity possible.

There conferencing sessions bring a reality to sessions and offers the ability to merge several rooms into one and for life-like video conferencing that brings enhanced efficiency to businesses using the system.

"In an effort to offer our users the most advanced digital telepresence solution, Telanetix has created one of the first truly interoperable platforms for Telepresence," Rick Ono, Telanetix Chief Operating Officer commented in a statement to the press.

"Our interoperability platform shifts the market in a new direction and will have significant impact on the Telepresence industry for years to come."

The company has said they will provide the new platform by the end of the first quarter of 2007.
