HiPath 3000 is targeted at small to medium-sized businesses
as well as the edge of medium-to-large enterprises. Supporting up to 500 IP
users (1,000 IP users with HiPath AllServe 150) or 384 conventional voice
users, the HiPath 3000 is quite flexible with its support for
circuit-switched, packet-switched, or mixed configurations. You can deploy
any mixture of digital optiPoint 500 phones, IP phones, and PC-based soft
clients. It comes in both a 19" rackmount and a wall mount version. The
3000 supports both T1 and ISDN interfaces as well as CTI applications and
features an integrated H.323 gateway.
For distributed environments, networking with other systems
is achieved using Siemens proprietary CorNet IP multi-site networking
protocol as well as the open QSig networking protocol standard. The
advantage of using VoIP along with CorNet is that it eliminates the need for
dedicated point-to-point T1/Tie trunk facilities for branch offices.
Existing Siemens customers will be encouraged that the
HiPath 3000 offers easy migration from their conventional communications
systems to an IP-based multimedia communications platform. It also protects
and leverages existing investments in the Hicom 150, as well as enables the
re-use of most system cards, cabinets, applications, and workpoints.
Additionally, the 3000 has fault management and supports
SNMP. AllServe allows centralized Management for up to 16 HiPath 3000 nodes.
HiPath FaultManagement allows Fault Management and Inventory Management to
the complete Siemens HiPath portfolio.
Finally, a key advantage of the HiPath 3000 is that it can
leverage key applications from Siemens traditional telephony product line
that now work on its IP convergence platform. In fact, there are many
applications to choose from, including HiPath Xpressions for unified
messaging and unified communication, as well as HiPath ProCenter, a
multimedia-capable call center solution.
