—"This issue looks at IMS from a high altitude (interesting terrain below), I can imagine how future issues will "zoom in", just as today's news reports on TV give you the regional map and them zoom in on Baghdad, for example. Some tightened-focus article possibilities come to mind: There is a battle going on between Convedia (MOML/MSML) and Cantata (MSCML) over the markup languages to use with media servers (the MRF). Is MRFC-MRFP separation dead? (Everyone seems to have blown off H.248 for use in the MRF.) What about the related protocols and languages: VoiceXML, CCXML, SOAP, Java, Parlay, MSML/MOML/MSCML, MRCP. Who plays where? And since IMS does not specify the use of these standards, where does each fit in IMS? (I would be pleased to take on an assignment in the MRF area.) Looking forward to the next issue."
