Planet PDA Debuts In Las Vegas
The First-Ever Enterprise PDA Event
Delivers Much-Needed Strategic and Tactical Education to Impressive Crowds
Planet PDA: The Global
Summit on Enterprise & Custom Volume Handheld Computing Solutions,
hosted by Technology Marketing Corp. (TMC), announced the show enjoyed an
outstanding turnout at its debut in Las Vegas.
Planet PDA is the first enterprise-focused PDA event that helps
companies developing handheld computing strategies select, deploy and
support the best platform for their company. Attending and participating
in the event were industry heavyweights such as Palm, Handspring, Compaq,
NEC, RIM and Hewlett Packard to name a few.
The one-of-a-kind event offered attendees the most advanced solutions
in handheld computing and wireless CRM during a three-day conference held
at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas.
"The feedback we've received from attendees and exhibitors has
been amazing. It is clear that Planet PDA has filled a critical void in
the conference world," said Conference Co-Chairman and TMC President,
Rich Tehrani.
"Attendees told us again and again how they've needed an event
like Planet PDA -- an educational event that showcases corporate and
custom volume handheld solutions -- for a long time," added Tehrani.
Show highlights included the first annual "Battle for the
Enterprise," in which leading handheld solution providers --
including NEC Computers, Compaq, Symbol, PDA Verticals, Motient, Hewlett
Packard and RIM -- compared handheld computing strategies and fielded
questions from attendees.
In addition, attendees took advantage of numerous educational
conference tracks, including: How to select applications; Maintaining
security; Developing wireless connectivity solutions; Developing
customized applications; Integrating network solutions; Providing
`help-desk' PDA support; and more.
Case studies were also presented of companies who have successfully
implemented handheld devices into their enterprise.
Planet PDA attendee Bob Donovan, a strategic consultant, echoed the
sentiments of many delegates with his comments: "Congratulations to
you and everyone connected with hosting `The Enterprise PDA Event' in Las
Vegas. It was great, not only from content, exhibits and networking but
from the ROI aspect. My investment in time and money is already starting
to pay off. I have already started to make plans for the May event in
Boston and have encouraged several of my associates to make the investment
as well," proclaimed Donovan.
Keynote speakers included: Larry Miller, VP of Marketing, NEC Computers
Inc.; M. Salahuddin Khan, Senior VP of Technology and Development,
Navigation Technologies; Al Baker, VP Product Management -- Global Call
Center and CRM Solutions, Siemens Enterprise Networks LLC; Reginald
Linebarger, Director, iPAQ Products & Access Services North America,
Compaq; Michael Mace, Chief Competitive Officer, Palm Inc.; and Ray
DePaul, Director of Product Planning, Research in Motion Limited.
According to Marc Robins, TMC's VP of Publications and Trade Shows and
Co-Chairman of Planet PDA, the participants and the actual program drive
the success of any conference equally.
"This inaugural Planet PDA will be viewed as a success not only
because of its thorough conference program and enthusiastic attendees, but
also because every major player in the handheld space was here
evangelizing their specific solution -- and the concept of handheld
computing in general. The ongoing viability of the show -- and the
industry -- will not be in question as long as they continue to educate
enterprises about how they can become more efficient through use of these
devices," declared Robins.
The next Planet PDA conference is scheduled for this coming May 13-15,
2002, in Boston. Visit www.planetpdaexpo.com
