TECHtionary SIP-OCS Course Curriculum

SIP-OCS Essentials 101 - introduction and fundamentals of IP Telephony with demonstrations of OCS-Office Communications Server functionality. This course is focused on telephony with an introduction to OCS, not an indepth analysis. In other words, "what is it." In addition, students are given access to the online e-learning version of this course for six months after the class.

OCS Essentials - Fundamentals of OCS - 101 (online) This is the online version of OCS 101 available for $499 per student or less.

OCS Complete 201 - indepth course on OCS with "hands-on" lab. This course is an indepth exploration of OCS concepts and implementation. This course is not about specific implementation issues but a general overview. In other works, "how it works." This would be considered a "boot camp" course.

OCS - Virtual Labs - remote online, webseminar or custom onsite labs. This is course focuses on specific issues, however, this is not intended to provide or replace technical support from Microsoft or other consulting services. In other words, "how it may work for you." This course is still a "lab" course to provide insights into production situations as "YMMV-Your Mileage May Vary" considerably. Remember, OCS is a new product, more beta than battle hardened.

If you prefer a sports metaphor explanation of the courses, 101 is "what is football." 201 are "different player positions - offensive, defense, etc." 301 is "spring training."

Global organizations utilize conference calls as a very important business tool for collaboration. Multi-branch organizations were the first to recognize the value in voice and video conferencing services to economize on travel costs and to coordinate busines activies. Other smaller organizations have also begun to recognize that having access to easy-to-use conferencing resources speed up collaboration efforts with clients and suppliers. Whether using a traditional TDB PBX, an IP-PBX or a hosted service provider, SIP is seen as a key technology going forward to help tie organizations together and dramatically reduce the costs of conferencing.
