Grandstream's IP Video Surveillance Portfolio Compatible with ONVIF

Grandstream Networks, a manufacturer of IP voice/video telephony and video surveillance solutions, announced that its entire IP video surveillance portfolio is now compatible with ONVIF, a global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products.

By joining ONVIF, Grandstream proves its commitment on setting global interoperability standards for network video, company officials stated.

Grandstream's scalable network video solutions, including low light/high definition IP surveillance cameras and video encoders, support open Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) or "SIP"/Voice over Internet Protocol or "VoIP" standards for enterprise surveillance and remote monitoring applications.

Prior to ONVIF compatibility, a large amount of development work had to be undertaken between individual manufacturers of both software systems and cameras to ensure cross-manufacturer compatibility, Grandstream officials said.

Complying to open standards reduces risk of investment because resellers/integrators and enterprise customers who turn to Grandstream's solutions can focus on meeting specific physical security applications rather than worrying about if one product will work with another, according to Grandstream officials.

Grandstream's GXV series IP video cameras have built-in support for SIP/VoIP and 2-way audio. The SIP/VoIP capability turns these cameras into smart camera phones for video monitoring and 2-way audio intercom/monitoring.

Live video feeds from any of Grandstream's surveillance cameras can also be streamed and routed through Grandstream's GXE502x IP PBX (News - Alert) and streamed onto Grandstream's IP video endpoints like the GXV3140 and mobile phones for a completely integrated, cost-effective network solution, company officials said.

Earlier this year, Grandstream announced it has strengthened its IP video surveillance portfolio with the introduction of the GXV3611_HD --720P high definition -- and GXV3611_LL --low light-- progressive scan CMOS fixed dome IP surveillance cameras, TMCnet reported.
