Joining the Ranks and Overcoming Barriers: Vidyo Supports UC Adoption

By Jaclyn Allard, TMCnet Copy Editor

Vidyo, Inc., a provider of personal telepresence, announced its accepted membership in the Unified Communications (News - Alert) Interoperability Forum (UCIF), a nonprofit alliance of technology leaders studying and discussing the potential of unified communications, and enabling global businesses to be more productive.

Vidyo (News - Alert) joins the alliance in an effort to collaborate and overcome existing interoperability barriers to UC adoption, with the goal to deliver a reliable UC experience.

In such an attempt to impact UC adoption, Marty Hollander, senior vice president of Marketing will be speaking during a session at this week’s ITEXPO West 2010 conference.

The session entitled, “Communication Beyond the Enterprise: The Personal Investment in Telepresence (News - Alert),” will occur Oct. 4 at 3:15 p.m. Besides the evolution of telepresence, the session will discuss the growing state and robust future potential of telepresence technology, providing employees with a happier, healthier and more productive work environment.

“Because end-users communicate on such a variety of different hardware devices, it’s essential that they are able to access and join a video conference on any device, wherever they happen to be,” Hollander said.

Also according to Hollander, Vidyo’s goal in collaboration with UCIF is to extend interoperability to all UC components.

In addition to taking part in ITEXPO (News - Alert) West, Vidyo has also launched as the Conferencing community as the newest addition to the TMCnet global online community program.
