Azimuth Helps PureWave Test Its 4G Base Stations

PureWave Networks, a developer of high performance, compact outdoor Mobile WiMAX (News - Alert) 802.16e base stations, will use Azimuth's ACE MX Universal Frequency MIMO Channel Emulator for testing its 4G base stations.


The ACE MX channel emulator is a purpose-built, enhanced testing solution designed to address the needs of Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based systems.

In a release, Azimuth claims the PureMax Smart Antenna technology enables PureWave's Quantum (News - Alert) family 4G base stations to deliver dramatically superior range and capacity. ACE MX combines MIMO channel emulation capabilities in a flexible and scalable solution to enable PureWave Networks conduct efficient, automated and repeatable testing of its Quantum product line under a multitude of "real-world" RF conditions.

PureWave Networks uses many powerful techniques to allow their PureWave Quantum base stations to deliver a world class performance, said Dan Picker, CTO of PureWave Networks. He said his company likes the ease of use, superior RF fidelity, and calibration of units for beamforming testing provided by the ACE MX. The solution has helped them run tests they weren't previously able to perform, added Picker.
