Tata Indicom, Kirusa Offer 'Call-n-Tweet' Voice Service to Subscribers in India

Tata Teleservices Limited announced the launch of Kirusa’s (News - Alert) ‘Call-n-Tweet’ service for all its TTSL and TTML subscribers across India.




This service is expected to enable Tata Indicom subscribers to update their Twitter status by posting Voice Tweets or short audio snippets directly from their mobile without logging on to the Internet.

Company sources confirmed that the new Call-n-Tweet service can be used by all TTSL and TTML subscribers irrespective of the mobile handset model they possess. The subscriber has to subscribe for the service at callntweet.com by using his or her Twitter account details. They are required to just dial 50007 and send a voice tweet to update their status on Twitter. The user is allowed to speak in any language and the voice tweet can be more than 140 characters.

Lloyd Mathias, chief marketing officer, Tata Teleservices (News - Alert) Limited said, “Online social networking is completely integrated with today’s lifestyle. The need to be connected to friends and acquaintances at your own pace, is gaining momentum day by day. At last count, Twitter was attracting 190 million visitors per month and generating 65 million tweets a day. We wanted to give our subscribers an amazing option to log on to Twitter 24X7.”

The service available on Tata Teleservices network utilizes the capabilities of Voice SMS that is sourced from Kirusa.

Commenting on the capability of Kirusa he added that it has enabled the delivery of an innovative social networking service to the market. The introduction of Call-n-Tweet service is expected to offer a convenient and personal way to tweet without logging onto the Internet besides enabling subscribers to add a personal touch to their status updates, he said.

Taranjit Singh Batra, vice president of sales of Kirusa, said, “Access to social networking sites is the next reality check for carriers in Mobile Value Add Services. These sites are firing the imagination of young generation nowadays. To enable them to log in and leave updates is a functionality which no carrier can afford to ignore today.”

Tata Teleservices Limited offers integrated telecom solutions to its customers under the brands Tata Indicom, Tata DOCOMO, Tata Photon and Tata Walky and uses both the CDMA and GSM technology platforms for its wireless networks. Tata Teleservices’ telephony services include mobile services, wireless desktop phones, public booth telephony and Wireline services. It serves more than 76 million subscribers living in 450,000 towns and villages in India.

Kirusa Voice SMS an advanced “Voice SMS” solution enables mobile subscribers to send messages by speaking. Call-n-Tweet; LoudMouth; Auto-Voice-SMS; Video SMS; Carry Forward; Emissary; International and Convergent Voice SMS, Voice SMS Gateway (News - Alert); Kirusa Exchange service and Brew and Java clients are examples of voice services introduced by Kirusa.
