The SIP Forum Launches SIPNOC

In a press release, The SIP Forum, a non-profit organization devoted to advancing the adoption of the Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP), announced today the SIP Network Operators Conference (SIPNOC), a new annual conference for the international service provider community.

With  (SIPNOC) a two-day conference, The SIP Forum plans to bring together the leading technical minds from the telecommunications industry to learn, discuss and formulate new ideas and strategies concerning the challenges and opportunities for SIP-based carrier services in fixed and mobile IP network environments. The first SIPNOC conference is to be held April 25 -27, 2011.  

Commenting on the company’s new plans, Marc Robins, President and Managing Director of the SIP Forum (News - Alert), said “The SIP Forum is dedicated to providing technical guidance and support of the SIP protocol across all audiences, and SIPNOC is yet another example of that dedication,” and “We believe this conference will become another lynchpin in our events portfolio and we are very excited about its potential on a global scale.”

The SIP Forum has gained an international reputation for developing important, educational events surrounding SIP. The SIP Forum plans to improve the company’s objectives with reaching out to its industry leaders ultimately achieving its goal in spreading the company’s message on a more global scale.

In other telecommunications news, Securus Technologies, Inc., a provider of what's known as “inmate communications services,” announced last week that the Jefferson County Detention Center of Waurika, Okla., awarded Securus a new contract as its inmate telephone system and communications services provider.  According to Yahoo News, the Detention Center evaluated several communications providers but ultimately chose Securus for its inmate calling and investigative system called Secure Call Platform (SCP).
