Vu TelePresence Launches HD Video Conferencing for European MarketBy David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor Recently officials of Vu TelePresence, which sells telecommunication technology, announced that the company is launching their HD video conferencing system to the European Market at Integrated Systems Europe. Vu TelePresence “enables businesses to gain the convenience and efficiency of conducting remote meetings, reviews, and interviews from the office or boardroom,” company officials said, “with the realism of higher-end systems costing three to five times the price.” In fact, they claim, it’s “about as easy to use as instant messaging, since Vu TelePresence operates across low bandwidth environments. It’s available for multiple room size options, while maintaining HD quality images and sound.” Chief Executive Officer, Devita Saraf (News - Alert), said it’s aimed at “smaller organizations looking to grow. Vu TelePresence adds the sophistication of Fortune 500 technology without breaking the bank... Vu is a customized product specifically made for entrepreneurs and SMB professionals.” For the future, Saraf said, the company is looking at “Vu-ing in the workplace not just as a cost-cutting measure, but as the new business lexicon. We see it as the next telephone not as a substitute for travel.” The benefits of telepresence go beyond the technological gee-whiz factor, Saraf stressed: “The ability to ‘read’ an individual’s body language during a meeting, be it with prospects, clients, vendors or employees, is priceless. Typical telecommunications like email, chat or phone simply cannot provide one a true sense of how a person ‘feels’ about your communication. It cuts down meeting and talk time by approximately 50 percent.” Last October TMC (News - Alert) wrote that Vu TelePresence, which makes display systems, announced the availability of its TelePresence systems customized for the needs of SMBs, and “the opening of Vu TelePoints, remote access conference suites available by the hour, to conduct videoconferencing with the Vu system.” The Vu TelePresence Pro is currently available for lease at $49.99 per month (without display unit). The complete system can be purchased for $1,499. David Sims is a contributing editor for TMCnet. To read more of David’s articles, please visit his columnist page. He also blogs for TMCnet here.
