Ukrainian Telecom Operator Picks VocalTec VoIP Solutions

VocalTec Communications, a provider of end-to-end VoIP and convergence solutions for fixed and wireless service providers, has announced that Telecommunication Group Vega has deployed its solutions for the provision of Class-5 VoIP services across five regions in the Ukraine.

Ido Gur, president and CEO at VocalTec (News - Alert) said that Vega has selected VocalTec as their provider for packet-based Class-5 services and the company is committed to meeting all their service and regulatory requirements.

The company said that the project was concluded in partnership with Priocom, a Ukraine based systems integrator. Vladyslav Boboshko, chairman of the board at Priocom, said that the company is partnering with VocalTec on the delivery of their field-proven Class-5 VoIP solution.

Ukraine based Telecommunications group Vega is an alternative operator of fixed telecommunications market which is a part of SCM group telecom division. Vega said that it plans to deploy VocalTec's Essentra BAX, VoIP Application Server.

By deploying VocalTec's solutions, Vega expects to provide its customers with advanced IP telephony services, including an extensive set of subscriber calling features. Initially, the deployment is expected to consist of a centralized installation from which Vega will provide an enhanced telephony service nationwide.

Additionally, the company is also expected to implement VocalTec's Essentra EX, VoIP Peering (News - Alert) Manager. Company officials said that this solution will provide enhanced VoIP routing capabilities for optimal routing-plan management, enabling Vega to benefit from an efficient utilization of network resources.

Anatoly Abroskin, technical director at Vega, said that the decision to select VocalTec came following a thorough evaluation of additional vendors within the industry. "We were very impressed with VocalTec's solutions in comparison to the other solutions we reviewed. VocalTec's solution perfectly meets our service needs."

Gur said that it was essential for the company to provide Vega with the highest quality solution and to alleviate their concerns, which they encountered prior to working with VocalTec.

"This transaction reinforces the growing acceptance of our VoIP solutions in the Ukraine and across the CIS region," Gur said.
