SonicWALL Unveils VoIP Firewall, Releases New Version of E-Mail SolutionBy Paula Bernier, Executive Editor, IP Communications Magazines SonicWALL (News - Alert) Inc. at VoiceCon this week unveiled a VoIP firewall that provides security and employs deep packet inspection that enables special treatment for certain applications, such as giving priority to voice, without adding latency.
Patrick Sweeney, vice president of product management, tells TMCnet that the stateful inspection firewalls popular today have no view into payloads, but to look into the payload with existing products would introduce an unacceptable amount of delay. However, the new SonicWALL solution can look into payloads without those delay issues.
Sweeney adds that delivering all this functionality within the firewall allows businesses to avoid buying and managing yet another console as they move to add new functionality to their networks.
In other news from SonicWALL this week the company announced an upgrade to its enterprise-class email security solutions.
This latest release for the SES (News - Alert) product family enhances performance, effectiveness, ease of use. SES is available as an appliance, Windows server-software, as a cloud-based solution through SonicWALL partners, or as a hybrid-cloud solution with the Comprehensive Anti-Spam Service on TZ, NSA and E-Class NSA network security appliances.
SonicWALL’s Mail Transfer Agent now can handle up to 10,000 concurrent connections. A new advanced search feature gives administrators and end-users the capability to quickly and efficiently search more than one million messages per second. Also new is support for SonicWALL’s Global Management System, standards-based syslog support, and Windows Event Viewer.
