Virtual Phone Numbers Continue to Catch OnBy Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor While a recent spurt in the Virtual Phone Number space is catching the attention of many in telcom industry, the leading global supplier of IP-based communications services continues to push its advantage of being an early entrant in the market.
IP Telecom Limited, and its subsidiary DID World Wide, has been providing a wide range of reliable, stable and high-quality innovative origination products, including Direct Inward Dialing (DID) access solutions on a worldwide basis since early on.
In today's changing and dynamic voice environment, the relevance and importance of DIDs and local telephone numbers for VoIP and VoIM communications has never been more important. In fact, companies like DID World Wide have built and assembled infrastructures specifically designed to handle origination services in a stable, efficient, reliable, cost-effective and flexible manner.
How it Works
The Hardware is housed in secure data facilities in a number of major centers around the globe, according to DID World Wide, allowing for full redundancy and access to premium network resources. The company also says it is continually expanding our international DID coverage by forging relationships with approved voice carriers, in order to ensure your global access to local phone numbers.
“By making these commitments, we are able to ensure the highest standards of stability and flexibility, while delivering the best possible voice quality to you and your customers,” said Edwin Terek, CTO at DID World Wide.
Terek says the company is concentrating on increasing coverage and quality of DID services. “It is essential that we continue to forge relationships with approved voice carriers, in order to ensure our customer’s global access to local phone numbers.”
These numbers are, in fact, playing an increasingly large role in costs savings in business and often appeal to technology companies for technical support; exporters, to give the impression that the company is local; and service companies such as call centers. At that point, voice and data will be truly integrated and everyone in the world will be a local phone call away.
A local DID (also called a DDI in Europe and sometimes referred to as a virtual number) may be forwarded by our infrastructure to conventional PSTN (Plain Old Telephone System) devices, Voice over IP (VoIP), SIP, H.323, IAX, Skype (News - Alert), MSN or Google Talk anywhere in the world. The forwarding destination is selected by the customer on a per-DID basis.
