AT&T is Working at Improving Wireless Voice Quality, as Businesses are Demanding More from Networks

By Ed Silverstein, TMCnet Web Editor

AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson says his company is greatly improving its call quality.

Thanks to the popularity of Apple's iPhone (News - Alert), AT&T's customer base has increased over the past three years.

However, the network has also been pushed to the breaking point, and AT&T has been plagued with reports poor voice call quality, according to a recent report in Daily Tech.

Starting this year AT&T (News - Alert) has been investing an additional $2B USD in infrastructure.

According to Daily Tech, Stephenson said his company is close to bringing mobile voice call quality close to where it wants it.

Daily Tech reported that AT&T’s voice network has reportedly had dropped call rates as high as 30 percent in recent years, even though AT&T's own statements have indicated a much lower rate of < 5 percent of calls dropped.

In comparison, to improve quality within the enterprise, ReliaTel offers its ReliaTel Monitoring and Management Solution. A unified solution, it provides the end-to-end operational control, detailed information analysis, rapid response support and bottom-line cost effectiveness necessary to drive the demanded results, according to TMCnet.

In the commercial sector, businesses are demanding more and more from their networks and the infrastructure must be able to handle such demands or risk failures that can slow processes and increase customer churn.

Highly responsive enterprises must use infrastructures that initiate cutting-edge solution to unify business communications, deploy workforce mobility and improve workforce collaboration. Such requirements demand that support personnel have a high degree of control over the entire voice and data environment.
