Agsm Telecomunicazioni Chooses Acme
Packet Net-Net Session Border Controllers
Acme Packet announced that Agsm
Telecomunicazioni has selected its Net-Net session border controllers for
a multi-phased project that will first deliver enhanced SIP-based services
to business and residential customers, and will later include peering with
other service provider networks. Owned by Agsm, the multi-utility company
of Verona, Agsm Telecomunicazioni selected the Net-Net session border
controllers for the hosted NAT traversal and advanced security and
topology hiding features that are so critical to offering hosted IP
services. Later this year when they begin exchanging traffic with other
leading IP service providers throughout Italy, the SIP-H.323 signaling
interworking functionality will prove critical.
With the deployment of Acme Packet session border controllers, Agsm
Telecomunicazioni will expand its offering to include additional hosted IP
services to business and residential customers for increased revenue and
profits. With the Net-Net products, the network will handle
bandwidth-intensive and delay-sensitive applications, such as real-time
voice and video, securely and with the high-quality Agsm
Telecomunicazioni’s customers have come to expect from their voice
network. The hosted NAT traversal feature will enable real-time
session-based traffic such as VoIP to easily traverse premise-based
firewalls without configuration changes.
“Acme Packet is the only vendor that demonstrated that they can meet our
entire set of current and future requirements, including hosted NAT
traversal, access control and topology hiding for security, and SIP to
H.323 interworking for peering IP networks, all in a high-availability
solution,” said Marco Pissarello, business development director, Agsm
Telecomunicazioni.
“Thanks to the Acme Packet solution, we can completely broaden the
reach of our business, as we will now be able to peer our SIP-only network
with H.323-based networks, and with other, previously incompatible
networks,” said Pissarello.
“Agsm Telecomunicazioni’s delivery of real-time interactive communications
to its customers requires stringent quality of service in a highly
available solution,” said Andy Ory, president and CEO, Acme Packet. “With
our Net-Net session border controllers, service providers like Agsm
Telecomunicazioni can be confident that their networks will meet these
demands with ease---all in a single vendor solution delivered in the most
compact form factor available today.”
