Acme Packet Attains (3)Works
Certification From Level 3 Net-Net Session Border Controllers
Acme Packet announced that its Net-Net session border controllers have
attained (3)Works certification after successful completion of
interoperability and compatibility testing with Level 3 Communications'
advanced VoIP network, (3)Voice SM. (3)Works is a voice certification
program conceived to enable software developers and equipment vendors to
test against Level 3's SIP interface and to ensure compatibility between
Level 3's (3)Voice services and the world's leading IP communications and
equipment solutions. The (3)Works network is a sophisticated IP telephony
network built to provide an open testing environment for next-generation
intelligent network services.
To achieve (3)Works certification, Acme Packet successfully executed
test plans relating to SIP signaling and RTP transport and demonstrated
the compatibility of its SIP-based Net-Net products with Level 3's
(3)Voice services. Level 3 provides (3)Works participants with the ability
to make both inbound and outbound calls, with both call paths utilizing
it's next-generation signaling infrastructure. Because the program is
specifically designed to test interoperability with the Level 3 SIP
interface, all products and networks to be tested must be built in
compliance with the IETF SIP standard.
"Achieving (3)Works certification is an additional proof point for
our service provider customers and prospects that an Acme Packet session
border controller deployment will be highly interoperable with other
connected service provider and enterprise SIP networks," said Andy
Ory, president and CEO, Acme Packet. "With its (3)Works network,
Level 3 is driving the development and adoption of real-time IP
communications by providing a challenging environment for companies like
Acme Packet to test the compatibility of our products against an IP
service provider with a global infrastructure."
