Celsian Technologies Introduces Modem, Router
Solutions To Address Emerging DSL Standards
Celsian Technologies, Inc., a
supplier of PC-to-DSL connectivity solutions, announced a line of new
products designed to connect small-to-midsize businesses, SOHO and
residential users to the most up-to-the-minute Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
technology. Celsian's new Momentum series of modems and routers are
specifically designed to meet the new international standard for
symmetrical DSL service known as G.SHDSL, as well as current Asymmetrical
DSL (ADSL) lines.
Celsian's Momentum products, in addition to their ADSL/G.SHDSL focus,
are unique in their ability to connect with virtually any DSLAM (Digital
Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) equipment. This interoperability means
that DSL access providers who purchase Momentum products for distribution
to end users can greatly reduce their inventories, carrying one
modem/router platform for all DSLAMs.
"Our new Momentum line is guaranteed compatible with DSLAMs from
18 top manufacturers," said Carl Jaafar, President/CEO of Celsian
Technologies. "This universal connectivity is a huge advantage to our
customers. When combined with our affordable price, wide availability, and
easy end-user installation, the Momentum series will clearly lead the
market in addressing ADSL and G.SHDSL customer needs."
Momentum products offer USB or PCI plug-and-play installation,
Windows-based GUI configuration software for easy set-up, and
Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) termination for transparent IP remote LAN
connectivity and Internet access. Celsian's ADSL Momentum products, first
to market in the series, support multiple line code including full rate
G.992.1 (G.dmt), splitterless G.992.2 (G.lite, and ANSI T 1.413i2, with
asymmetric downstream rates of up to 8 Mbps and upstream rates up to 1.1
Mbps.
Celsian's first Momentum products include the following:
- Momentum U80 DSL USB Modem: Designed for residential,
telecommuter, and Small Office/ Home Office (SOHO) use, the Momentum
U80 offers Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection for easy,
plug-and-play installation and configuration with no external power
supply needed. It supports monitoring services through F4/F5 loop back
and continuity checks, and includes an optional, external passive POTS
splitter for simultaneous analog voice and high-speed data on a single
twisted-pair phone line.
- Momentum P30 DSL PCI Card: An internal modem designed for use
in any PCI compliant buses, the Momentum P30 offers PCI plug-and-play,
PPP termination, and monitoring services through F4/F5 loop back and
continuity checks. Compatible with Windows NT 4.0/95/98/2000, the
unit's multimedia and video-on-demand cell-based architecture makes it
perfect for video-on-demand and other high-quality multimedia needs.
- Momentum R100 DSL Router: Provides high-bandwidth delivery of
video streaming, audio/video conferencing, video gaming and other
multimedia applications. Created for the needs of small businesses,
remote or branch offices, and telecommuters, the Momentum R100 offers
one-click selection of ISP or other service providers through its
browser-based configuration and management software. It supports ATM
Forum-compliant UNI 3.1 signaling providing transparent end-to-end
cell-based transport, and supports 32 simultaneous PPP circuits and 32
virtual circuits, allowing multiple concurrent connections to the same
or different access provider.
Celsian's Momentum series will be expanded in the third and fourth
quarters of 2000 to include new products meeting the G.SHDSL G.991.2
standard. G.SHDSL, an ITU-approved standard for symmetrical (identical
upload/download data transfer rates) service, will be first available
during the same period. G.SHDSL is expected to replace current HDSL (T1),
HDSL-2 and SDSL standards, and is directed at the small-to-midsize
business leased line market. Celsian as already taken orders for its new
G.SHDSL products, which will carry multiple-line Voice Over DSL (VoDSL)
capability.
