Mellanox Delivers Switch Reference Platform Bridging 1X To 4X InfiniBand Links

Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced the immediate availability of the InfiniBridge 1X to 4X aggregation platform. The InfiniBridge reference design can be used to expand any or all of the eight 10 Gb/s 4X InfiniBand ports of the InfiniScale reference switch to four 1X ports. Utilizing this reference board in conjunction with the InfiniScale reference switch can enable up to 32 non-blocking full wire speed 1X ports. A number of InfiniScale reference switches and InfiniBridge boards enable scaling fabrics to 192 ports 1X and beyond. Alternatively, this board can be used to aggregate four individual 1X links into a single physical and logical 4X link.

"This aggregation platform, when combined with our InfiniScale reference switch, offers our customers the flexibility to create many different InfiniBand switch configurations," said Kevin Deierling, Vice President of Product Marketing, Mellanox Technologies.

"Combining both our first and second generations of switch devices creates a powerful combination that enables server and storage clusters that scale from InfiniScale's eight 10 Gb/s ports, to 32 non-blocking 1X ports and all the way to 192 1X ports."

The InfiniBridge MTEK21108-C05-2H features four copper 1X (2.5Gb/s) ports and a single copper 4x (10 Gb/s) port. Additionally, a 1U chassis with power supply (P/N: MTSW 21108-SP) is designed to hold up to six of the aggregation boards and can be configured to create a switch that scales up to 24 1X ports plus dual 4X ports when combined with an InfiniScale reference switch.
