Hughes Software Systems Releases SS7-SIGTRAN
Software Solution For OEMs
Hughes Software Systems (HSS) has
announced its new Signaling System 7-Signaling
Transport (SS7-SIGTRAN) solution. The new standards-based software
significantly cuts the time and costs of transition to next-generation
converged voice and data networks, reduces deployment risks and allows
Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to concentrate on differentiating
their products through value-added technologies.
"We are committed to integrating best-in-class complementary
technologies that allow our OEM customers to get to market faster,"
said Arun Kumar, President and Managing Director, Hughes Software Systems.
"With this solution, we are uniquely positioned to provide more value
to our customers, who now have a single vendor solution for both network
requirements. Our customers can further enhance on this base by using any
of our higher software solutions on SS7 and GPRS/3G, and/or Voice over
Packet."
SS7 (Signal System 7) is a technology in which signaling information
related to many information circuits is conveyed over a separate circuit
by addressed packets. SIGTRAN (Signaling Transport) defines a suite of
protocols and adaptation layers for transporting signaling information
over IP based networks.
This integrated solution is the latest addition to Hughes Software
Systems' SS7 and SIGTRAN stacks, which are provided as building blocks,
each tailored to meet specific needs. HSS products are utilized by OEMs to
build network nodes for the third-generation mobile and voice over packet
infrastructure. The new offering provides OEMs with a clear choice of
leveraging IP infrastructure from Mobile to Wireline networks and vice
versa, with minimum change in the OEM's application layers.
The SS7-SIGTRAN solution from HSS brings together industry leading
technologies from the Voice over Packet and GPRS/UMTS space to offer OEMs
"best in class" complementary technologies. This integrated off-the-shelf SS7-SIGTRAN solution accelerates time
to-market and lowers overall development and maintenance costs.
