Optibase Intros Enhanced TV Steaming Platform For
IP Networks
Optibase, Ltd. released a new
version of MGW 2000, a TV streaming platform that enables the delivery
of TV over IP services to residential and business subscribers.
MGW 2000 enables large companies and organizations to deliver
enhanced video communications over corporate IP networks. In the
residential space, MGW 2000 allows service providers to deliver
broadcast TV over IP based DSL and fiber networks to their broadband
subscribers. Transmitting multiple channels of live TV and video, MGW
2000 receives up to six live digital or analog signals, encodes them
in real-time to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 and streams them in multicast or
unicast mode.
The newly enhanced version of MGW 2000, version 2.8, adds new
Session Announcement Protocol (SAP) and Session Description Protocol
(SDP) features. SAP and SDP enable enterprises to publish information
regarding scheduled and transmitted channels and allow viewers to see
a list of channels and select a desired channel for playback.
Other MGW 2000 features include a remote management system, which
enables the configuration, operation and monitoring of multiple
streams via a Web-based management application; scheduled encoding and
streaming; low latency; and closed caption support.
MGW 2000 is ideal for business TV, corporate communications,
distance learning, archiving and surveillance applications. The
enterprise and government sectors have been using MGW 2000 to stream
business TV and corporate meeting proceedings to employees' desktops
and to enhance border surveillance systems to detect, identify, track
and intercept unwanted intruders.
