Celsian's ADSL IAD Passes Interoperability
Testing With MetaSwitch's Broadband Voice Platform
Celsian Technologies Inc., a
manufacturer of broadband voice and data products, and MetaSwitch
announced that the Celsian Momentum V Series ADSL 4 port Voice Over DSL
router has successfully passed interoperability testing with MetaSwitch's
VP3000 Broadband Voice Platform.
The combined solution delivers toll-quality Voice over Broadband (VoB)
telephone calls and subscriber services such as caller ID, call waiting, call
forwarding and three-way calling, without requiring a Class 5 switch.
Celsian has consequently become a MetaSwitch Interoperability Partner.
"Increasingly, vendors including ourselves are committing to open
standards, such as the ATM Forum Broadband Loop Emulation Service (BLES),
to accelerate the deployment of Voice over Broadband. The speed with which
we were able to develop our IAD and achieve interoperability with the
MetaSwitch VP3000 clearly demonstrates the benefit of this approach,"
said Carl Jaafar, CEO of Celsian.
Following a series of tests hosted at MetaSwitch's recently established
facilities in California, the Momentum V Series IAD achieved
interoperability with MetaSwitch's award-winning VP3000 Broadband Voice
Platform.
By combining broadband voice and Class 5 switching functions in a high
density, carrier class system, the VP3000 provides a cost-effective VoB
solution, which is designed to eliminate the requirement for an expensive
Class 5 switch. Support for the ATM Forum's Broadband Loop Emulation
Service (BLES) also ensures interoperability with a wide variety of DSLAM
and IAD devices.
In addition, the VP3000's future-proof softswitch architecture offers a
clear upgrade path to Voice over IP and MPLS (VoIP/MPLS) and other
broadband voice services, including wireless and cable.
Commenting on the significance of the result, Jaafar noted that
"for the first time, we are in a position to offer service providers
the option of deploying VoB with our IADs, without consuming legacy Class
5 resources.
"In addition, they can take advantage of Celsian's SmartCNCT
Extensions, which allow for Port to Port and IAD to IAD calling, with
mini-PBX features. Combined with the subscriber features built into the
MetaSwitch VP3000, this creates a truly compelling service offering."
"We were pleased to work with Celsian to prove the capabilities of
their IAD, and rapidly demonstrate interoperability with the MetaSwitch
VP3000," said John Lazar, MetaSwitch's vice president of sales and
marketing. "This is a testament to the maturity of the BLES standard
and the ability of MetaSwitch and Celsian to collaborate effectively, for
the benefit of our customers."
Celsian also has ADSL and SHDSL data products that have been certified
by such companies as Nortel, Lucent, Copper Mountain, and Net to Net
Technologies.
