Avocent Expands DS Series Of Network Appliances
With SPC Power Control Devices
Avocent Corporation expanded its
DS Series with two new power distribution devices: the SPC800 and SPC1600.
These eight and 16-port intelligent power devices provide individual,
addressable power outlets that can be remotely controlled from any
location using standard TCP/IP connections. With the addition of these new
power devices, the DS Series provides the most comprehensive platform for
controlling virtually any number of servers or serial devices in the data
center.
Avocent's SPC power management over IP solutions set new standards in
the way IT managers can securely monitor and manage power to their
business-critical servers and other network devices. Available in 8 and 16
outlet models, the SPC extends the functionality of Avocent's CPS serial
over IP technology and simplifies the complexities of power management in
growing network infrastructures. When combined with Avocent's CPS
serial-based network appliances, the SPC provides a highly secure and
scalable power management solution.
The DS Series of KVM switches and serial management devices provide
reliable access and control of servers, routers, firewalls and SPC power
devices - all from Avocent's DSView Windows application. When SPC power
management devices are used in conjunction with Avocent's CPS appliances,
IT managers can securely control almost any connected device in the data
center.
The SPC devices provide enhanced security options, including password
protection, port-specific access rights and port groupings for power
control. Together with CPS appliances, IT managers benefit from a
comprehensive solution for power management and console control in their
data center.
"We are continuing to advance our DS Series platform so that we
provide our customers with what they need: secure, comprehensive control
of virtually any data center device," said Gary Johnson, senior vice
president of global sales and marketing. "Our DS Series platform now
includes a powerful trio of solutions for data centers of any size. Now we
offer KVM OVER IP switching systems, serial over IP systems and power
management over IP systems, all within our DS Series."
