Toshiba Announces IP Telephony Solution
For Strata CTX Business Communication Systems
Toshiba America Information Systems, Telecommunication Systems Division
(Toshiba TSD) announced the launch of a new Internet Protocol (IP)
telephony solution for its Toshiba Strata CTX family of business
communication systems. Adding IP capabilities allows Strata CTX users to
create a hybrid communication solution that mixes and matches IP, analog,
and digital telephones, both at the main office and remote locations, to
meet the individual needs of the enterprise.
Toshiba IP-enabled CTX systems deliver the latest in IP technology
solution capabilities. Toshiba's new highly usable and durably designed IP
solution consists of the IPT1020-SD IP telephone and Strata CTX Release
2.0 software. The Strata CTX is Toshiba's family of digital business
telephone systems, which includes the Strata CTX670 supporting up to 672
ports, and the Strata CTX100 supporting up to 112 ports.
"We are pleased to launch our new IP telephony solution for the
Strata CTX family, which delivers a hybrid communication solution allowing
our customers to integrate IP telephony where it makes sense, while giving
them the reliability of a traditional digital telephone system," said
Michael Durance, vice president and general manager of Toshiba
Telecommunication Systems Division in Irvine, Calif. "With this
upgrade, Strata CTX users can mix and match IP, analog, and digital
telephones, or use all IP telephones, allowing them to customize their use
of IP to their own unique needs."
New Toshiba IP Telephony Extends Features Remotely Over IP
The new Toshiba IPT1020-SD IP telephone extends the functionality of
the Toshiba Strata CTX system to remote locations supported over an IP
network. This allows users to take advantage of the features and
capabilities of their office telephones from remote locations, such as
home or regional offices.
Beta tester David Blum, president of TL Communications based in
Carrollton, Texas, said, "Using the new Toshiba IP telephone at my
home office extends the capabilities of my office telephone, with all my
favorite features. For example, when I make calls from home using my IP
telephone, it is set up so my number appears to be my office number, even
when I'm calling from my home DSL line. This means that my office number
shows up on their Caller ID. Incoming calls to my office number come right
to my IP telephone, no matter where it is. As well, the message waiting
light on the IP telephone lets me know when I have messages."
Mobility to Move IP Telephone Anywhere With an Internet Hook-up
Authorized Toshiba Dealer Don Frank, vice president/general manager of
DAD Expanets Company of Cincinnati, said, "Toshiba has created a
truly mobile IP telephone solution that users can plug into the LAN at the
office or take home and plug into their Internet connection. It is an
ideal solution for mobile workers who split their time between office and
home. The IP phone extends the capabilities of their office telephone
systems, so they can use the features no matter where they're
located."
