724 Solutions Launches Mobile Internet Gateway
For Mobile Operators
724 Solutions announced availability
of its Mobile Internet Gateway which is tuned to empower cost effective
access to 2.5G and 3G networks. 724 Solutions will deliver this
leading-edge mobile operator solution through distribution and integration
alliances with global leaders.
As mobile operators evolve from circuit-based to packet-based networks,
they have a critical need for an Internet Protocol (IP) gateway that
demonstrates high availability, scalability, flexibility and is cost
effective. 724 Solutions' Mobile Internet Gateway is designed to deliver
these core values. Leveraging the technology that underpins 724 Solutions'
Wireless Internet Platform (WIP), the Mobile Internet Gateway inherits
WIP's proven high availability and scalability. Originally developed at
Tandem Computer's High Performance Research Center, this technology has
been benchmarked to scale to over 10 million users running a total of
10,000 transactions per second.
"This is an example of how our allies can incorporate 724
Solutions' technology to meet the needs of next-generation mobile operator
networks," said John Sims, chief executive officer, 724 Solutions.
"As mobile operators make the migration to these new networks their
access gateways become vital parts of their overall service, demanding the
highest levels of reliability and scalability, as well as, the flexibility
to be able to quickly launch new services and devices. 724 Solutions'
Mobile Internet Gateway delivers on these needs."
The Mobile Internet Gateway provides support for Wireless Application
Protocol (WAP) 1.x, WAP 2.0, Short Messaging Service (SMS) and Multimedia
Messaging Services (MMS). Other features include: full system management,
flexible configuration, seamless integration with most networking
infrastructure, content conversion, security and traffic optimization. 724
Solutions' open standards-based design makes it easy for mobile operators
to support new devices, protocols and networks.
