VoIP Council Launches
With Major Industry Support
The voice-over-IP industry's association and activist organization, the
International VoIP Council, has officially launched. Tasked with the
generation and dissemination of the messages surrounding enhanced
communications, the Council will serve as the unified, worldwide
"voice" for VoIP within the business, consumer and technology
communities, and be the international organization representing all
elements of IP telecommunications. Founded by CommuniTech President and
CEO, Neal Shact, the Council has brought together several of the
industry's most well known companies in a cohesive effort to further
Voice-Over-IP.
VoIP technology has made significant progress since being introduced in
the mid 1990's. With the widespread adoption of the Internet in both the
private and public sectors, the infrastructure on which VoIP is driven has
vastly improved, and subsequently, has made the technology both cost
effective and reliable.
"The last two years has been an acid test. The industry has worked
very hard to deliver high quality products and services that help lower
operating costs - the 'free' model associated with low quality is
gone," said International VoIP Council Founder, Neal Shact. "The
mission of the Council is to get that message out and educate the public
on the many benefits that VoIP delivers."
"As VoIP has gone from a new technology in its infancy to a
state-of-the-art, mature, reliable communications platform, the
International VoIP Council will be a vital resource for industry leaders
to help them succeed and take that jump to the next level," said Alan
Knitowski, Vice Chairman, International Packet Communications Consortium,
formerly known as the International Softswitch Consortium. "As Vice
Chairman of the IPCC, I am ecstatic about our two groups working together
to expand the mass market appeal of enhanced Internet communications, and
what that means to the industry."
