GRIC Communications Launches Suite Of Tools To
Enhance QoS, Manage SLAs
GRIC Communications, Inc., a provider
of mobile office Internet communications services, announced the launch of
its multi-services Network Management Facility (NMF), a suite of tools
designed to deliver the industry's highest level Quality of Service (QoS)
and more efficient management of Service Level Agreements (SLA) with
customers.
The NMF will provide real-time monitoring of network-related
issues, such as network event monitoring, as well as the management of
configuration, problems, performance and reporting. The design and
implementation of the new infrastructure was led by Verso Technologies,
and included leading products, services and technology from Cisco Systems,
Hewlett-Packard, Micromuse Inc., Quallaby Corporation, Nortel Networks and
Veritas.
The NMF will provide a multitude of benefits for GRIC enterprise
customers and members of the GRIC Alliance Network, which consists of more
than 300 of the world's top ISPs and telecommunications companies in 150
countries. The NMF will provide GRIC with trending and QoS reporting
information in a proactive manner, ensuring that GRIC's in-house Network
Management Center (NMC) is notified when problematic issues occur within
the network. Enterprise customers will have confidence in GRIC's ability
to deliver on SLAs and provide detailed customized reports.
"By deploying the NMF, GRIC will deliver the first tools of their
kind in the roaming Internet access industry, and will provide a superior
level of network management services to our growing number of enterprise
customers and GRIC Alliance members," said Bharat Dave, GRIC's Chief
Operating Officer. "This facility provides GRIC the opportunity to
offer network management to all the GRIC Alliance members, to enhance QoS
and problem resolution times in a heterogeneous network. The NMF will help
identify the nagging problems which all Internet users know about and are
always frustrated by. This allows GRIC to continue its emphasis on
user-friendliness and high quality of service, and strengthens our
leadership position in the fast-growing roaming Internet access
industry."
In addition to the NMF suite of tools, GRIC-developed QoS software --
Roaming Streamer and GTtrend -- will leverage the company's
state-of-the-art network management technology. The QoS software currently
allows GRIC's NMC to detect "trends" in the network from a
user's perspective, and proactively seek resolution using the NMF tools.
