Performance Technologies� Channel7 SS7
Platform Is Now PICMG 2.16-Compliant
Performance Technologies announced its
Channel7 SS7 platform has been upgraded to operate in systems utilizing
the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group�s (PICMG) 2.16
CompactPCI/Packet Switching Backplane standard.
Channel7 is a comprehensive hardware and software SS7 MTP-2 platform
that provides telecom equipment manufacturers and application developers
with enabling technology for the creation of signaling applications and
systems. The PICMG 2.16 compliance of Channel7 allows MTP-2 messages to be
efficiently transferred over Ethernet to host processing nodes.
�The new version of Performance Technologies� Channel7 platform
continues upon our tradition of market leadership in the area of
innovative, standards-based enabling technologies,� said Hank Heneghan,
director of product management for Performance Technologies. �The
platform joins our IPnexus� family of innovative embedded Ethernet
switches and access cards, based on the popular PICMG 2.16 standard
developed by Performance Technologies.�
Target telecom applications for the new Channel7 platform include Home
Location Registers (HLR), Visitor Location Registers (VLR), Signaling
Gateways, Signal Transfer Points (STP) and SMS offload platforms.
