Knowlagent 508 Compliance Enhancements
Advance Accessibility Of Sim-Based Learning For Individuals W/Disabilities
In a move that will help government installations comply with laws
requiring accessibility to all of its electronic and information
technology, Knowlagent, the
exclusive provider of contact center e-Learning solutions that align
employee performance with company objectives, announced that is has made
significant enhancements to its e-learning suite to make it 508 compliant.
The enhancements meet the biding and enforceable standards for federal
procurement regulations as specified in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation
Act Amendments of 1998. Section 508 requires that electronic and
information technology developed, procured, maintained or used by the
federal government be accessible to people with disabilities, including
employees and members of the public.
Several key development enhancements have been made to Knowlagent's
e-learning platform, making it 508 compliant. These enhancements include:
- The solution does not disrupt or disable activated features of other
solutions identified as accessibility features that assist the
disabled and developed according to industry standards.
- Keyboard functions can be executed textually.
- At least one mode of operation and information retrieval is
supported by Assistive Technology to aid the visually impaired.
- Information is delivered via audio and enlarged print when visual
acuity is less than 20/70.
Simulation technology allows employees to learn Best Practices in a
safe environment where they feel comfortable, allowing them to build
confidence and minimize the risk of customer defection due to a poorly
managed customer interaction. Knowlagent products integrate voice (the
conversation between an agent and a customer) and data (a simulated
version of the exact system agents will be using) to create simulations
that exactly mirror real-life. What agents see, hear, and do is no
different than a real call.
"Section 508 demonstrates that the government is serious about
equal employment and education for all people," said Rusty Gordon,
CEO at Knowlagent. "508 gives individuals with disabilities who work
for the federal government the ability to become more responsive in the
performance of their jobs, and it will enable them to qualify for more
jobs within the federal system," he added. "We are proud to
spearhead the training initiative with Pittsburgh Vision Services,
extending the value of simulation to the visually impaired."
