Vodavi Solution Gives Businesses, Call Centers
VoIP Connectivity On Any Phone System
Vodavi Technology, Inc. announced
Express VoIP, a non-proprietary analog gateway. When connected to an
available CO port, the Express VoIP adds voice over IP (VoIP) connectivity
to an existing telephony system to allow communications with other VoIP
enabled devices. Telecommuters and businesses with remote offices will
gain both administrative and financial advantages by using their existing
data network connections (WAN, LAN or Internet) to eliminate long distance
charges between geographically dispersed office locations. Express VoIP
joins Vodavi's suite of IP telephony products including the Discovery VoIP
card introduced in 2001.
According to Stephen Borcich, Vodavi's Vice President of Sales and
Marketing, "The biggest benefactors of Express VoIP is any business
looking for a cut and dry, simple-to-install and easy-to-administer IP
telephony solution." He added, "With a high percentage of U.S.
businesses possessing remote office locations along with telecommuters,
Express VoIP helps to extend the reach of the main office phone system
using the existing Intranet to those remote employees. In addition to
maximizing the value of the existing data connection, remote users will
now have access to the central phone system for outgoing calls and
internal extension dialing."
Along with reducing long distance charges, other primary benefits of
installing an Express VoIP network include 4-digit dialing between
locations, telecommuter access to the central phone system for placing
local or long distance calls, and telecommuter access to sophisticated
system features such as voice mailboxes, system-wide paging, etc.
Express VoIP is an external gateway box that contains two analog CO
ports and an Ethernet port. Using the latest VoIP technologies including
the H.323 Revision 2 protocol, G.711 A-Law/U-Law, silence suppression and
echo cancellation, Express VoIP supports IP connections to any other H.323
Revision 2 compatible IP telephony product. The analog CO ports allow the
unit to be connected to any existing Vodavi or other manufacturer phone
system. An analog phone can also be connected directly to the Express VoIP
gateway giving a remote site or home office simple VoIP connectivity to
the main office. Remote administration of the Express VoIP, whether in a
home or office environment, is accomplished via a standard web-browser.
