Compex Releases Wireless-Ready Broadband Internet
Gateway
Compex has released their newest
wireless router, the NetPassage 16, a broadband gateway and a 4-port
10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet Switch that utilizes 'Pseudo-VLAN technology,'
which provides a kind of data privacy that is unmatched in current 802.11b
products on the market.
In addition, the NP16 offers a Time-Based Control
function that allows restriction and control of Internet surfing, full
support of an external V.90 56k analog modems for backup purposes should
broadband services be suddenly interrupted. Also, the NP16's Parallel
Broadband technology allows for multiple NetPassage 16s to added to the
network, which means greater, total Internet bandwidth sharing. To enjoy
wireless connectivity, simply plug in an 11Mbps wireless PCMCIA card and
the NP16 becomes a truly secure access point.
The most distinctive and unique feature of the NP16 is its Pseudo-VLAN
capabilities. With no other wireless gateway offering this added security
feature, the NP16 meets consumer demands for greater data privacy in
802.11b wireless communication as never before. In short, the Pseudo VLAN
technology enables the NP16 to isolate a wireless client or a group of
wireless clients within an independent VLAN for extra data privacy while
surfing.
The NetPassage 16 is ideal for secure, fast and efficient high-speed
Internet connectivity. By installing an 11Mbps PCMCIA wireless LAN card
supporting the industry-leading wireless LAN secured by 64-bit or 128-bit
WEP (Wire Equivalent Privacy), the NetPassage 16 also functions as a
wireless Access Point, supporting Bridging to your existing wired Ethernet
network. The NP16 provides immediate support for 4 users in the wired LAN;
additional hub or switch may be cascaded to NetPassage 16 to support more
users. The NetPassage 16 also has a built-in DHCP and can facilitate the
hosting of Virtual Internet Servers as well as IP Packet Filtering.
