Need More Content Contributors For Your Online Community? Look Outside the Box

July 14, 2011
Sure, you may have a designated editor and experienced editorial staff to write for your online community every week; however there is another option for developing content that you may not be taking advantage of to get the most out of your online community.

If you have writers on staff who are not part of your marketing team, have people with an interest in writing, or avid social media gurus, you should be utilizing them as online community contributors.

As you know, communities thrive with a high quantity of quality content, so contributing articles regularly to your online community not only populates it with the rich, informative content it needs to boost SEO, but also positions the distributor of this content (i.e. your company) as a thought leader in your industry space.  And the more variety of content, or varying perspectives, the better since search engines love original, innovative pieces.

No matter how pleased you are with your current content, a little perspective from you and your internal team of experts will only help to ensure you are getting the point across about what your company offers from a variety of perspectives. Because when it comes down to it, who knows your company and its services better than the people who are immersed in it every day?

You may already be writing content on your company’s blog or other media outlets, so maybe consider guest contributors to get involved as well. Some ways to do this are to set up a contributor’s page or a blog on TMCnet to push your work to other online channels like your community. If you do not have a company blog or section on your website for content, utilizing TMCnet is a great way to get your thoughts to the industry while utilizing TMCnet’s viewership of more than two million unique visitors a month.

TMCnet has a number of clients who contribute content to their channels as well as other relevant TMCnet sites on a regular basis. Depending on the amount of time they are able to dedicate, contributors submit feature pieces or blogs as little as once a month to as frequently as every day.

“Contributing to your channel ensures your information is not stagnant and encourages readers to constantly engage with you to see what's new.  The channel is a tool, you would not be buy a shovel and then dig a hole with your hand, you would use the shovel to dig the hole.  The ability to increase your reach by using the power of TMC (News - Alert) is nothing short of awesome,” said David Vaughan, director of projects at TSG Global and regular contributor to TMCnet.
