Waves Audio Ltd., a company the makes audio signal processing tools as well as semiconductor devices under the brand name Maxx, recently announced that its MaxxAudio technology is being used by Toshiba ( News - Alert) in that company’s Qosmio G40 and F40 notebook computers.
In the announcement, Wave Audio said the use of its technology in this way makes Toshiba the first manufacturer to offer notebook computers with psycho-acoustic capabilities.
The psycho-acoustic algorithms provided by Waves Audio enhance the acoustic performance of speakers built into Toshiba’s computers.
Paul Bundschuh, vice president of sales and marketing at Waves’ semiconductor and OEM licensing division, said: “Waves is pleased to be working with Toshiba, to deliver a new level of audio performance in their new Windows Vista notebook models.”
“Waves also thanks Microsoft’s ( News - Alert) Windows Vista Audio team and Realtek Semiconductor for their assistance in integrating MaxxAudio into their codec driver architecture,” Bundschuh added.
Robert Wang, director of marketing, Realtek Semiconductor, added: “MaxxAudio is an attractive solution to improve audio quality in Microsoft Vista notebook PCs.”
